This ZETA Jazz Modern electric viola has a roasted maple top and roasted flamed maple neck with a shaded “Cremona burst” finish that really brings out the beauty of the wood. The ZETA Jazz bridge brings home the tone, with a warm, silky sound that transmits very little bow noise.
The Modern body design features the proportions and physical reference points of the classical viola yet has elegant, sweeping cutaways and a highly sculpted back relief that contribute to the light weight of this stylish design. This particular Modern viola has an attractive roasted flamed maple top, finished in Zeta’s shaded Cremona burst finish. A roasted flamed maple neck and gold hardware complete the look.
ZETA’s Jazz pickup has two sensors per string, perpendicular to each other. They sense the movement of the string at 90 degree angles, effectively canceling out unwanted transients and bow noise. Each paired pickup signal is divided and run to separate internal gain controls so that the string level can be balanced for analog uses, while allowing the output to be separated cleanly for MIDI applications.
The Jazz bridge delivers a clean, electric viola tone that is favored by artists world-wide. The overall sound of the Jazz bridge is full and satisfying, and it transmits less bow change sound than then almost any other piezo transducer system. This instrument also has the ’92 JLP Reissue preamp, designed by ZETA to replicate the classic tone Jean-Luc Ponty’s original ZETA Jazz Fusion violins. Its output is noticeably stronger than the previous version. The 1992 JLP Jazz Reissue preamp also has a crisper tone which cuts through a little more than the old preamp, which has a mellower sound.
Zeta’s proprietary onboard active preamp system delivers the unique characteristics of your personal tone in a powerful signal suitable for the recording studio or live performance in any size venue. An internal 9-volt battery provides over 1,000 hours of service on average. Individual string digital outputs allow the use of each string as a separate MIDI channel and separate individual internal gain controls provide string level balancing for analog users.
The Zeta Strados Modern comes with a very nice custom Zeta viola case, which features two large internal storage areas for strings, rosin, tuner, shoulder rest, headphones, etc. Additionally, on the outside of the case, are two zippered pockets with ample storage for all cables, music, etc.
