The Baggs Para Acoustic D.I. is perhaps the best-known preamp/EQ/Direct Box for acoustic instruments on the market. The one essential element in the gig bag of many professional players, the L.R. Baggs Para D.I. is the swiss army knife of the EQ/Preamp world. It offers a five-band equalizer with tunable notch filter and sweepable mid EQ with a two octave range. Phase inversion increases feedback control, and the balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4″ line-outs allow you can plug into a PA, and amp, or both at once.
The Para D.I. allows the player to control the voicing of their instrument, without sacrificing the tone. Practically guaranteed to make any pickup sound better, the Para Acoustic D.I. is especially useful for instruments like the violin family, which are only amplified using piezoelectric pickups.
The Baggs will help cure many of the sound artifacts and harshness often associated with piezo pickups, as it handles impedance matching, stepping the veryhigh electric impedance of piezo pickups (as much as 10 megohms) down to a low-impedance (600 ohms) output better-suited to the low-impedance inputs of most mixing boards and a wider range of amplifiers.
